ALCOA, Tenn. — Both teenagers charged in connection with a deadly crash in Alcoa earlier this year will face trial as adults, authorities confirmed.

On May 21, charges against 18-year-old Sebastian Jones were formally transferred to adult court. Jones faces multiple serious charges, including theft and possession of property over $1,000, vehicular homicide, criminal homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and driving while impaired.

The tragic incident occurred on March 22, 2024, when the Alcoa Police Department responded to a collision at the intersection of East Lincoln Road and Hall Road. According to an APD spokesperson, a truck traveling westbound on East Lincoln Road ran a red light and collided with a vehicle heading south on Hall Road. The driver of the second vehicle, 19-year-old Madison Hoese of Maryville, was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators determined that Jones was operating the stolen truck involved in the crash. After the collision, Jones and his passenger fled the scene but were apprehended shortly thereafter. The passenger, identified as Maddex Forsythe, also faces charges of theft and possession of stolen property over $1,000, criminal homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Forsythe’s charges were transferred to adult court earlier this year, on February 13.

Forsythe’s bond was set at $500,000, with court records indicating he will be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor prior to any potential release from detention. The bond for Jones will be determined by the Circuit Court for Blount County.

Authorities continue to investigate the case as it moves through the judicial process.
