ALCOA, Tenn. – Two individuals were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash in Alcoa on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Bessemer Street and Calderwood Street, involving three vehicles. One of the vehicles was reported to have caught fire.
According to an Alcoa Police spokesperson, a 70-year-old man from Maryville was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in serious condition. A 20-year-old woman from Alcoa sustained minor injuries and was treated at Blount Memorial Hospital.
The Alcoa Police Department has launched an investigation into the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the cause of the collision to contact Lieutenant Dustin Stevenson at 865-380-4918.
