KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An 8-year-old child was struck by a vehicle on North Broadway Saturday afternoon, prompting a swift response from Knoxville Police Department (KPD).

The crash occurred around 7:50 p.m. near the intersection of North Broadway and Atlantic Avenue. According to KPD officials, the child, a young boy, was hit by a car traveling through the area. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, and the child was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. As of the latest update, no further details about the driver’s identity or the cause of the crash have been released.

KPD continues to investigate the incident, and further information is expected to be provided as the investigation unfolds. Residents in the area are urged to avoid the scene as authorities work to clear the area and gather evidence.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of heightened awareness around busy intersections, especially in areas with foot traffic. The community is hopeful for the young boy’s swift recovery.
