KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is taking proactive measures to prepare for the next round of winter weather expected to impact East Tennessee. According to Mark Nagi, a spokesperson for TDOT, crews will begin pretreating interstates and state routes on Tuesday, ahead of the anticipated snowstorm that is expected to arrive overnight.
Snow is forecasted to move into the region late Tuesday evening, with the heaviest coverage anticipated early Wednesday morning. The department’s primary focus will be to ensure roadways remain as safe as possible during the winter weather event.
“We’re asking drivers to give crews the extra space they need to perform their jobs efficiently and safely,” Nagi stated. TDOT crews will be working around the clock to treat roads, clear ice, and monitor conditions to mitigate potential hazards for commuters.
