Knoxville, Tenn. — A 75-year-old man was discovered dead in a wheelchair at Cal Johnson Park early Wednesday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department (KPD).

Officers responded to the scene after receiving reports that the man, who was reportedly homeless, had been found seated under a canopy at the park. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the individual.

Investigators found no signs of foul play at the scene. However, due to the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, an autopsy has been scheduled at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center. The KPD stated that the man had recently been released from a local hospital prior to his death.

Though the exact cause of death remains undetermined, the temperature at the time of the discovery was reported to be around 18 degrees Fahrenheit. Law enforcement officials have not commented on whether the cold weather may have contributed to his passing.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not provided further details at this time.
