Knoxville, Tenn. – Drivers traveling on Alcoa Highway in Knoxville this week should be prepared for significant delays as construction work is set to cause traffic disruptions. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), a contractor will be conducting rolling roadblocks throughout the week, with work expected to continue through Saturday.

The rolling roadblocks will take place daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., affecting traffic between Woodson Drive and Cherokee Trail. The roadblocks will occur in 20-minute intervals, providing brief stoppages on the highway during that time.

In addition to the rolling roadblocks, crews will also be flagging traffic on the ramp at Cherokee Trail and along both Cherokee Trail and Medical Center Way. This flagging will take place during the same hours, further impacting traffic flow in the area.

TDOT has advised all drivers who travel along Alcoa Highway to anticipate longer commute times and plan accordingly due to the expected delays.

Motorists are encouraged to stay informed and allow for extra time while navigating the affected areas.
