BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — At least one person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Pellissippi Parkway Tuesday morning, authorities confirmed.
The Alcoa Police Department reported the incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. near the off-ramp of Alcoa Highway. Emergency responders, including officers and firefighters, quickly arrived on the scene.
As crews worked to investigate and clear the wreckage, all lanes of Pellissippi Parkway were shut down, causing traffic to be diverted onto Alcoa Highway. The closure lasted for nearly two hours.
A spokesperson with Alcoa police confirmed to local media that the crash was fatal and involved only one vehicle.
By 11:45 a.m., Mark Nagi with the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced that all lanes of Pellissippi Parkway had reopened, allowing traffic to resume its normal flow.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim or additional details about the cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
