BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — A deadly single-vehicle crash on Pellissippi Parkway near the off ramp of Alcoa Highway caused a temporary shutdown of all lanes Tuesday morning.

The Alcoa Police Department reported the incident shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with officers and firefighters arriving at the scene around 9:50 a.m. to manage the crash and assist with emergency response efforts. Due to the severity of the crash, authorities closed all lanes of Pellissippi Parkway to allow crews to reconstruct the scene and conduct their investigation.

A spokesperson with the Alcoa Police Department confirmed to 6 News that the crash was fatal, though no further details about the victim or cause of the accident were immediately available.

Traffic was rerouted to Alcoa Highway during the closure, causing delays for motorists in the area. By 11:45 a.m., Mark Nagi, a representative from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, announced that all lanes of Pellissippi Parkway had reopened, restoring normal traffic flow.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
