GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Several people were injured Sunday afternoon following a multi-car crash in downtown Gatlinburg.

According to a spokesperson for the City of Gatlinburg, the collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Parkway, a busy area in the heart of the city.

Emergency responders transported six individuals to medical facilities. Three victims were airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, while three others were taken by ambulance to local hospitals.

The crash resulted in the temporary closure of Parkway, which remained shut as of 6:45 p.m. while authorities continued to investigate.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting the Gatlinburg Police Department in the ongoing investigation. Officials have not released additional details at this time.

This is a developing story, and further updates are expected.
