ALCOA, Tenn. — The two teenagers charged in connection with a fatal crash in Alcoa last March will face trial in adult court, officials confirmed.

On May 21, charges against Sebastian Jones were officially transferred to adult court. Jones faces multiple charges including theft and possession of property over $1,000, vehicular homicide, criminal homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and driving while impaired.

The crash occurred on March 22, 2024, at the intersection of East Lincoln Road and Hall Road. According to the Alcoa Police Department, Jones was driving a stolen truck westbound on East Lincoln Road when he ran a red light and collided with a vehicle traveling south on Hall Road. The driver of the second vehicle, 19-year-old Madison Hoese of Maryville, sustained severe injuries and was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she later died.

Following the collision, both Jones and his passenger, Maddex Forsythe, fled the scene but were apprehended shortly afterward. Forsythe was charged with theft and possession of property over $1,000, criminal homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. His charges were transferred to adult court on February 13.

Forsythe’s bond was set at $500,000, with court records indicating he will be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor prior to any potential release. Jones’s bond is yet to be determined by the Blount County Circuit Court.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash as the legal process moves forward.
