BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — A fatal single-vehicle crash on Pellissippi Parkway in Blount County Tuesday morning led to a temporary closure of all lanes on the busy roadway.

According to the Alcoa Police Department, first responders arrived on the scene around 9:50 a.m. near the off-ramp of Alcoa Highway. The crash involved only one vehicle and resulted in at least one fatality, authorities confirmed.

Crews worked to clear the wreckage and reconstruct the scene, causing authorities to shut down all lanes of Pellissippi Parkway. Traffic was diverted to Alcoa Highway during the closure.

By shortly after 11:45 a.m., Mark Nagi of the Tennessee Department of Transportation reported that all lanes of Pellissippi Parkway had reopened, and traffic was flowing normally.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
