Knoxville, Tenn. – A student at Rockwood High School was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly making a threat, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. when school officials became aware of a potential threat made by the student.

Chief Deputy Tim Phillips of the Roane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the threat was reported to authorities, triggering an immediate investigation to ensure the safety of students and staff on campus. Law enforcement officers quickly responded to the school, securing the premises and identifying the student involved in the threat.

Phillips assured the public that there was no immediate danger to anyone at the school, stating, “Our agency takes all threats seriously and responds with swift and appropriate action.” He also praised the school staff for their quick reporting and the cooperation from students during the investigation.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Roane County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with Roane County Schools and the 9th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office. Authorities have emphasized the importance of understanding the gravity of making threats, regardless of whether they are intended as jokes.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” Phillips added. “We encourage parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of such statements, which can have significant consequences.”

At this time, the student is facing charges related to the threat, though further details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
