KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A deadly crash occurred Monday afternoon in North Knoxville, prompting a swift response from Rural Metro Fire crews. The incident took place near the intersection of Clinton Highway and Pleasant Ridge Road around 3:45 p.m.
According to Jeff Bagwell with Rural Metro Fire, details surrounding the crash remain limited. However, Bagwell confirmed to WVLT News that the crash resulted in at least one fatality. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) later confirmed that only one vehicle was involved in the crash.
As of 4:45 p.m., traffic was significantly impacted, with a backup extending beyond the intersection of Schaad Road and Callahan Drive, as reported by TNSmartway. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while crews worked to clear the scene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
