NEW MARKET, Tenn. — A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after a near-drowning incident on Monday evening, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
At approximately 6 p.m., deputies responded to a home on Whitaker Road in New Market after receiving reports of a drowning. Upon arrival, family members were already performing CPR on the teenager.
Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and New Market Fire and Rescue were quickly on the scene. The teen was transported to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The JCSO has asked the community to keep the teen and her family in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
