Knoxville, Tenn. – The Knox County Board of Education is set to review a proposed agreement for the construction of a new elementary school that would cost nearly $44 million. The meeting, scheduled for Monday, will allow board members to discuss the details of the project, with a vote expected on Thursday.
The proposed school would be located at 202 Village Commons Boulevard and is designed to serve students in grades K-5. With a total area of more than 144,000 square feet, the school would be a one-story structure featuring three classroom wings, providing space for up to 1,400 students.
The construction project is expected to be handled by Merit Construction, Inc., with an estimated cost of $43.7 million. In addition to the building itself, the cost also includes necessary improvements to the surrounding area, such as public street enhancements, parking, fencing, and playground facilities.
The new school is expected to address the growing demand for educational space in the area, ensuring that local students have access to modern facilities.
