KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A Loudon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy was involved in a crash on Friday when another driver ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 321 and Highway 70. The incident left the deputy with only minor injuries, while the other driver was unharmed.

According to Cpl. Cody Bengel of the LCSO, the crash occurred when the driver of another vehicle failed to stop at the red light, striking the deputy’s patrol car. Dash cam footage from another LCSO deputy who was at the scene confirmed that the other driver ran the red light, leading to the collision.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. “After reviewing the video footage and assessing the scene, the THP has confirmed that the other driver was at fault,” said a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Although the deputy sustained minor injuries, there were no reports of serious harm. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash. Authorities have expressed their gratitude for the prompt and diligent response from the Tennessee Highway Patrol as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This accident serves as a reminder of the importance of traffic safety and the potential dangers that can arise when drivers fail to obey traffic signals.
