Knoxville Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide After Deadly Crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A Knoxville woman has been charged with vehicular homicide following a deadly single-car crash that occurred early Thursday morning.

According to the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), officers responded to the scene on Boright Drive near Whitney Place around 1:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a Honda Accord crashing into a tree. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a woman near the car suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead sometime after 3:00 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Jada Warren, initially fled the scene but was later located by officers a short distance away in the 3200 block of Fairmont Boulevard. Warren was reportedly found with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

During the investigation, Warren admitted to being under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash. She was subsequently charged with vehicular homicide in connection with the fatal incident. KPD’s fatal accident investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full details of the incident.

This tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of impaired driving, regardless of the substance involved. The Knoxville Police Department urges the public to avoid operating vehicles while under the influence of any substances, in order to ensure the safety of all individuals on the road.
