KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A potential disaster was averted on Wednesday afternoon when Rural Metro Fire crews responded to a fire caused by what could have been an exploding hot tub in North Knox County. The incident took place in the 7200 block of Brickey Lane, around 3 p.m.

According to reports, the homeowners were startled when they heard a loud explosion, prompting them to investigate. Upon looking over, they discovered the hot tub engulfed in flames. Fortunately, Rural Metro Fire crews were able to respond swiftly to the situation.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to the house. Rural Metro officials stated that their quick response kept the damage to a minimum, with the home remaining only 20 feet from potential destruction.

“Crews were able to contain the fire and protect the home from significant damage,” a Rural Metro spokesperson said. “Quick work and an efficient response time were crucial in keeping the situation under control.”

At this time, the exact cause of the explosion remains unclear. However, authorities are investigating the incident. No injuries were reported, and the fire was fully extinguished without further complications.

This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of outdoor heating systems, especially when not properly maintained.
