Morristown Fire Department to Open New $5 Million Station

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. – The Morristown Fire Department is set to move into a new state-of-the-art fire station, marking a significant upgrade from the aging Station 3 that has served the department since the 1960s. With a price tag of over $5 million, the new facility is expected to improve response times, increase space for firefighters, and offer enhanced training opportunities.

The current Station 3, located near railroad tracks, has long posed logistical challenges. Firefighters have been forced to take detours when trains pass, potentially delaying emergency responses. With the new station set to open in the coming months off Thompson Creek Road, the department anticipates a reduction in response times—potentially cutting up to a minute off emergency calls, a crucial improvement when every second counts in life-threatening situations.

Danny Case, a representative from the Morristown Fire Department, explained that the current station lacks adequate space for the department’s growing needs. “We have three firefighters staying in a space meant for two, especially when working long overnight shifts,” Case said. The new station will provide much-needed space for the department, including better accommodations for firefighters during their shifts.

In addition to the expanded physical space, the new fire station will feature a cutting-edge training center. This will allow the department to conduct in-house training sessions and host additional training courses for local responders. “We’re going to have a state-of-the-art training center, so we can have in-house training here for our own guys,” said Case. “We can host more classes here, and it’s just a win-win.”

The new facility, which is expected to open within two months, is not only a necessary upgrade in terms of infrastructure but also a significant improvement in the department’s ability to serve the community more effectively.

As construction wraps up, the Morristown Fire Department looks forward to the added advantages the new station will bring, enhancing both safety and preparedness for all residents of Morristown.
