CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. — An officer-involved shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon is under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). According to TBI officials, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. CT when law enforcement officers attempted to apprehend a suspect involved in a domestic disturbance.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Jody Tollet of Crab Orchard, led officers on a brief chase before pulling into a driveway on the 9000 block of Peavine Road. After stopping his vehicle, Tollet exited the car and fired a handgun at the officers. The bullet struck the patrol car’s windshield, and Tollet then advanced on foot toward one of the officers.

In response to the threat, an officer with the Fairfield Glade Police Department returned fire, striking Tollet. The suspect was later pronounced dead at the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured during the exchange.

At this time, authorities have not released the name of the officer involved in the shooting. The TBI continues to investigate the incident, and further details have not been disclosed. The officer’s actions will be thoroughly reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

This is a developing story, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
