Knoxville, TN – Young-Williams Animal Center has issued a warning after several reports surfaced of a man impersonating one of their officers. The suspect, identified only as “Mark,” is described as having a mustache and brown hair. He is believed to be driving a white utility van and approaching homes while claiming to investigate barking complaints.

The shelter clarified that the man does not wear any official shelter-branded clothing and has not issued any citations, which has raised concerns among officials. They suspect that the individual may be targeting homes for potential criminal activity.

Young-Williams Animal Center stressed that real Animal Services officers are easily identifiable by their uniforms, which bear the organization’s branding, as well as their marked vehicles displaying clear logos.

Residents are advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the Knoxville Police Department at 865-215-7160. The shelter also reminded the public to always verify the identity of anyone claiming to be from the center before allowing them access to their property.
