Knoxville, TN – The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Thursday morning at North Hills Apartments, located on Washington Pike.

According to KPD Communications Manager Scott Erland, officers responded to a shooting call around 3:40 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a fence in the 2900 block of Washington Pike. The driver, an adult male who has not yet been identified, was found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim was located at the apartment complex. The man, whose identity has also not been released, was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with serious injuries. Authorities believe the shooting initially occurred on Washington Pike, and that the injured man fled the scene, seeking assistance at the apartment complex.

At this time, investigators with KPD’s homicide unit are leading the investigation. No suspects have been identified, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that may assist in solving the case.

“We are committed to finding answers for the victims and their families, and we encourage anyone with information to come forward,” Erland said in a statement.

Those with tips or information about the shooting are urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165.
