ALCOA, Tenn. – Two teenagers involved in a fatal crash in Alcoa earlier this year will face charges in adult court, following decisions made by the Blount County juvenile court system.
On May 21, charges against Sebastian Jones were officially transferred to adult court. Jones, who was allegedly driving a stolen truck during the March 22 incident, is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, criminal homicide, theft over $1,000, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and driving while impaired.
The crash occurred at the intersection of East Lincoln Road and Hall Road, when the truck Jones was reportedly operating ran a red light and collided with a car traveling south on Hall Road. The driver of the car, 19-year-old Madison Hoese of Maryville, was critically injured and later died at UT Medical Center.
According to the Alcoa Police Department, Jones and a passenger, identified as Maddex Forsythe, fled the scene on foot following the crash. They were both apprehended a short time later. Police confirmed that the truck had been reported stolen.
Forsythe is also facing serious charges, including criminal homicide, theft over $1,000, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. His case was transferred to adult court earlier this year, on February 13. His bond was set at $500,000, with court records indicating he would be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor if released.
Jones’s bond will be determined by the Blount County Circuit Court.
The fatal crash and the decision to try both teens as adults have drawn attention from the community, as questions mount over juvenile crime and accountability. The case remains under investigation, and court proceedings for both suspects are ongoing.
