Maryville, TN — Firefighters responded to a devastating blaze Tuesday morning on Hickory Reserve Road, where two homes were destroyed by fire. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on the 1700 block of the road, according to Karns Fire Department Chief Daron Long.
The fire began in one home for reasons that remain under investigation. High winds in the area are believed to have helped the flames spread quickly, igniting a second home nearby. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the flames and prevent the fire from affecting additional properties.
In total, two other homes sustained damage from the intense heat, but thanks to the swift actions of fire crews, those homes were spared from being fully engulfed. The fire was declared under control by 1 p.m., and Chief Long confirmed that no injuries were reported from the incident.
The cause of the initial fire remains unknown, and officials are continuing to investigate the situation. Despite the widespread damage, the quick response from local fire crews helped prevent a more devastating outcome.
