Sweetwater Police Investigate Distribution of Racially Motivated Propaganda

SWEETWATER, Tenn. – The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) has launched an investigation following the distribution of racially motivated propaganda throughout the city. Authorities confirmed that multiple similar incidents have been reported in neighboring areas, prompting SPD to collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, including the Athens Police Department and the Lenoir City Police Department, in hopes of identifying the individuals responsible.

Sergeant Kelvin Franco of the Sweetwater Police Department stated that while the investigation is ongoing, the department has not yet confirmed whether any charges will be filed. The police are working diligently to determine the source of the materials, which have raised concerns within the community.

In response to the widespread nature of the incident, the Sweetwater City Street Department and Parks and Recreation Department have assisted in the cleanup of hundreds of propaganda materials that were found in various neighborhoods around the city.

“We would also like to thank the City of Sweetwater Street Department and Parks and Recreation Department for helping clean up hundreds of these in our neighborhoods,” SPD said in a statement.

The investigation remains active, and the Sweetwater Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to come forward by contacting the department’s non-emergency line at 423-442-4357.

The distribution of racially charged materials has been a source of tension for many residents, raising concerns about the safety and unity of the community. Authorities are committed to addressing the issue promptly and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
