Maryville, TN – A small fire broke out Sunday night in one of the portable classrooms at Rocky Hill Elementary School, according to Knoxville Fire Department officials.
The fire, which originated in the heating and air conditioning unit, was quickly brought under control by responding crews. Knoxville Fire Department Assistant Chief Mark Wilbanks confirmed that no injuries were reported and the fire caused minimal damage to the classroom.
Thanks to the swift response of the fire department, the situation was resolved without any significant disruption to school operations. Fire investigators are continuing to assess the cause of the blaze, although it is believed to have started in the HVAC system.
Rocky Hill Elementary School is set to resume normal activities in the coming days as the school works with authorities to ensure the safety of the facility.
