Six Indicted in Greeneville Group Home Abuse Case

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Six individuals have been indicted following a months-long investigation into the abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult at a Greeneville group home, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

The case stems from an August 2024 referral made to TBI special agents by Adult Protective Services, raising concerns about the well-being of a non-verbal, intellectually disabled male resident at a facility operated by Support Solutions in Greeneville.

Investigators say they uncovered evidence indicating that several direct support professionals, along with the home’s residential manager, were involved in a pattern of abuse and neglect against the victim. Specific details about the nature of the abuse were not disclosed, but authorities described the behavior as ongoing and severe.

“This case highlights the critical responsibility caregivers have in ensuring the safety and dignity of vulnerable individuals,” the TBI said in its statement. “Our agents worked diligently to bring the facts to light and pursue justice for the victim.”

All six suspects were employed by Support Solutions at the time of the alleged incidents. Their charges, which were handed down by a Greene County grand jury, range from felony neglect to abuse of a vulnerable adult. The names of those indicted and specific charges are expected to be released by local prosecutors in the coming days.

Support Solutions has not yet issued a public response regarding the indictments or whether the individuals involved remain employed with the organization. The company operates residential programs across the state, providing services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and encouraged anyone with additional information to contact TBI or local law enforcement.

The case underscores broader concerns about oversight and accountability in facilities that care for vulnerable populations. Advocates say more stringent monitoring and training standards are needed to prevent future incidents.
