MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An 18-year-old man has been arrested on charges of aggravated animal cruelty after allegedly throwing a dog from a pedestrian bridge in Memphis earlier this month.
Christopher Triplett, of Memphis, was taken into custody on Monday, March 10, following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest on Sunday. The arrest stems from a disturbing incident that occurred on Monday, March 3, near South Lauderdale Street and Danny Thomas Boulevard.
According to Memphis police, a deceased dog was discovered in the parking lot of a nearby business shortly after the incident. The business manager, who had reviewed the surveillance footage, reported witnessing Triplett dragging the dog toward the bridge before tossing it from the structure. The footage showed the man walking down the steps, retrieving the dog, and throwing it from the bridge a second time, resulting in the dog’s death.
Following the act, Triplett was seen walking away from the scene on foot, heading toward E.H. Crump Boulevard.
Triplett now faces charges of aggravated animal cruelty in connection with the incident. He remains in custody, with the investigation continuing as authorities work to ensure justice for the dog. The case has drawn attention to the severity of animal cruelty and the importance of surveillance in helping solve crimes.
