KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) is actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in East Knoxville on Wednesday evening. Authorities have identified 42-year-old Willie Tolbert of Knoxville as the individual wanted in connection with the incident.
According to KPD, the shooting took place around 6:50 p.m. in an alley located behind a residence on the 2300 block of Brooks Avenue. Tolbert allegedly fired multiple rounds at two men, but fortunately, neither of the victims was injured in the attack. Following the incident, Tolbert fled the scene in a black Mercedes sedan, which is reportedly displaying Washington state license plates.
Tolbert is currently facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and several additional weapon-related charges. Police have urged the public to assist in locating the suspect and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
