Knoxville, TN – Excitement continues to build as the Knoxville Smokies prepare for their home opener at the newly constructed Covenant Health Park in downtown Knoxville. With only a few weeks left before the big day on April 15, the stadium’s completion is on track, promising an unforgettable experience for fans.

Currently, the park’s grounds are covered with protective tarps to shield the grass from unpredictable weather conditions. However, these will be removed on March 10, marking a significant step toward the final preparations for opening day.

One of the stadium’s most impressive features is the state-of-the-art video board, which holds the distinction of being the largest in Minor League Baseball. Designed in the shape of Tennessee, the digital screen will offer fans a cutting-edge visual experience, becoming a focal point at every game. Chris Franklin, the general manager of the Knoxville Smokies, expressed his excitement about the board, stating, “Every square inch of it will be digital. It’s certainly one of the premier features of this ballpark.”

Franklin also emphasized that the new ballpark has been carefully designed with the fan experience in mind. Beyond baseball, the stadium will host a variety of events, from One Knox soccer matches to concerts and more, ensuring its place as a community hub.

While there is still some work to be done, Franklin assured that everything is on schedule for the highly anticipated home opener on April 15 against the Chattanooga Lookouts. Fans and city residents alike are eagerly anticipating the completion of this landmark venue, which promises to be a standout addition to Knoxville’s growing sports and entertainment scene.
