KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A 25-year-old woman has been indicted in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on April 14, 2024, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Kylie Roberto, the daughter of Knoxville City Councilmember Andrew Roberto. The grand jury filed an indictment against Savannah Stanley on April 4, 2025, charging her with one count of vehicular homicide by intoxication, one count of vehicular homicide, and three counts of vehicular assault.

The crash took place on Schaeffer Road near Hardin Valley Road when Stanley, who was allegedly driving under the influence, crossed into oncoming traffic. According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley’s Saturn SUV was traveling erratically on the wrong side of the road, before it collided head-on with an Acura SUV.

Kylie Roberto, a passenger in Stanley’s vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Knoxville community, as well as local officials, expressed their shock and sorrow over her death, as Roberto was known for her bright personality and vibrant spirit.

Two other passengers in Stanley’s vehicle were injured and transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Both Stanley and the driver of the Acura SUV sustained minor injuries and were treated at Turkey Creek Medical Center.

Following the indictment, Stanley faces serious charges, with the most significant being vehicular homicide by intoxication, a charge indicating that alcohol or drugs were likely a factor in the fatal crash. The investigation into the incident revealed that Stanley’s actions on the road may have contributed to the tragic outcome, and the charges reflect the gravity of the situation.

One year after the fatal crash, Andrew Roberto, who has served on Knoxville’s city council, posted a poignant tribute to his daughter on social media. “I miss your smile, your laugh, the energy you brought into every room, your warm hugs, and the way you’d say ‘love you guys’ whenever you’d say goodbye. I just miss you Kylie and I’m so proud that I got to be your Daddy for 21 years,” Roberto wrote, sharing his immense grief over the loss of his daughter.

The indictment and charges against Stanley mark a significant moment in the ongoing investigation. The case continues to bring attention to the dangers of impaired driving and the deep, lasting impact it can have on families and communities.

As the legal process moves forward, the Roberto family remains at the forefront of the community’s thoughts, with many offering support to Councilmember Roberto during this difficult time.
