Knoxville, Tenn. – Two individuals have been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ayden Russo last month, according to the Knoxville Police Department (KPD).

On March 24, KPD officers responded to a call just after midnight regarding a shooting in the 2500 block of Louise Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Russo’s body in the backyard of a residence, having been shot multiple times. Authorities confirmed Russo was pronounced dead at the scene, and several shell casings were recovered in the vicinity.

In the days following the incident, investigators from the KPD Homicide Unit, in collaboration with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, worked diligently to gather evidence and identify the suspects. After questioning, 21-year-old Jaylyn Hudson and 19-year-old Jayden Conwell were taken into custody on Monday.

KPD spokesperson Scott Erland confirmed that both suspects have been charged with first-degree murder in connection to Russo’s death. The investigation is ongoing, though authorities have not released further details regarding the motive behind the shooting.

The tragic event has shaken the community, as residents of Knoxville continue to grapple with the impact of violence in the area. Local law enforcement agencies have pledged to continue their efforts to ensure justice for Russo and his family.

At this time, Hudson and Conwell remain in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
