KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knoxville man faces multiple charges following an incident Saturday evening in which he allegedly fired gunshots at a home on Gratz Street.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded to reports around 8 p.m. of a truck pulling into a driveway, with a man exiting the vehicle and discharging rounds in the direction of the residence before fleeing the scene.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Travis Murrah, was later located by police driving at high speed on Broadway. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol. Murrah exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and unsteady footing, requiring assistance from officers.
During a search of the truck, police discovered a handgun, a pistol, and an empty shell casing.
Murrah, who is the son of a resident at the targeted home, was returned to the scene where a witness confirmed he had been outside the residence but ran indoors for safety after hearing the gunfire and subsequently contacted authorities.
Murrah has been charged with reckless endangerment involving a deadly weapon, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and driving under the influence (DUI).
The investigation remains ongoing.
