KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Knox County Election Commission (KCEC) is offering an opportunity for local residents to gain a deeper understanding of the election process ahead of upcoming elections. As the county prepares for five elections and 46 elected offices in 2025 and 2026, the KCEC is hosting a free “Elections 101” seminar to help answer common questions and inform the public about the logistics of voting.

The seminar will take place on March 1, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at 1645 Downtown West Boulevard. Attendees will have the chance to hear from KCEC staff and experienced poll workers about the various aspects of the election process, including:

  • The different types of elections
  • The eight types of voting
  • How polling places are determined
  • Requirements for candidates running for office
  • Details on ballot requirements, order, and formatting
  • How voter registration rolls are maintained
  • The critical role of poll workers
  • The process of counting votes and determining election results
  • Election integrity and security, including pre-election testing and post-election audits

The seminar is designed to give residents the tools they need to better understand how elections are held and the important role they play in ensuring fair and accurate results.

Though the seminar is free to attend, space is limited to the first 40 registrants. Preference may be given to frequent voters. Those interested in attending must register by February 21, 2025, in order to secure a spot.

For more information or to register for the seminar, visit the KCEC website.

This event marks an effort by the Election Commission to engage the community and enhance voter education in preparation for the busy election seasons ahead.
