VONORE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday night in Vonore. The incident took place at a home on the 900 block of Smokey Branch Road, where Monroe County deputies were responding to a domestic assault warrant.
According to TBI officials, when deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect opened fire on the officers. During the exchange of gunfire, one deputy was injured. Fortunately, the deputy’s injuries were reported as minor, and they were treated at the scene by medical personnel.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was struck by gunfire during the confrontation. The individual was taken to a local hospital and is currently receiving treatment. No further details have been provided regarding the suspect’s condition.
