East Tennessee Church Donates Campers to Families Displaced by Floods

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A church in East Tennessee is making a significant impact on families displaced by the recent floods across the southeast. Partnering with the community and other local churches, the congregation has begun a mission to donate campers to those affected by the devastating floods.

To date, the church has already donated five campers to families in Tennessee and is currently working on restoring two more. According to Church Pastor Darren Wiggington, the impact on the families has been profound. “We’ve heard so many stories about how their lives have changed, and they feel like they can get started now,” said Wiggington.

The church’s goal is to continue donating campers as long as funds allow and expand the initiative to help families in East Tennessee and Kentucky. Church member John Oliver, who has also designed apparel to raise funds for the mission, emphasized the importance of sharing hope during such a difficult time. “Townsend could’ve easily gotten hit,” Oliver stated, referring to the potential for the area to be affected by flooding as well.

Through the sale of apparel designed to support the mission, the church has already raised over $10,000. Pastor Wiggington explained that the cost for each camper ranges from $10,000 to $20,000. Despite these expenses, the church is committed to continuing the effort. “We’re going to keep going until the funds end, and we’re going to keep giving campers away to families who are in need,” he said.

Those interested in contributing to the cause or donating can find more information and contacts through the church’s website. As the initiative continues, it offers a much-needed lifeline to families trying to rebuild their lives after the floods.
