KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A small brush fire broke out on Sharp’s Ridge in Knoxville on Monday evening, prompting a response from local firefighters. The fire, which ignited around 5 p.m. in a wooded area near Broadcast Way, east of the I-640/I-275 interchange, quickly spread across approximately 10 acres.

The Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) responded swiftly to the scene, with personnel from the Tennessee Division of Forestry also assisting in the firefighting efforts. By 10:03 p.m., the fire had been reported as 100% contained, according to the Tennessee Division of Forestry’s live wildfire map.

Despite the containment, KFD officials issued an update shortly before 9:30 p.m., stating that active flames would remain visible throughout the evening and into the early morning hours. Firefighters continued to monitor and extinguish any remaining hotspots.

Authorities reassured the public that there was no need to call 911 unless new signs of fire activity emerged, urging residents not to report visible flames in the area.

As of late Monday, the fire posed no further immediate threat to the surrounding community, and crews were expected to remain on-site until all areas were fully secured.
