MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. — Two individuals are facing charges following a fatal crash on Highway 27 in Morgan County on Saturday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when a Ford F-250, driven by 54-year-old Willard Gunter, was traveling northbound on the highway. Authorities say Gunter crossed over the center line, striking a Nissan Rogue head-on.
The crash resulted in severe consequences. Gunter and his passenger, 55-year-old Randy Peavyhouse, sustained injuries in the collision. Tragically, the driver of the Nissan, 64-year-old Bobbie Hester, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Nissan also sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
In the aftermath of the crash, the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that Gunter is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence (DUI). Peavyhouse has been charged with drug paraphernalia possession and tampering with evidence.
